We are due for a blizzard in some parts of the USA --- why will the bread and milk disappear from the food markets?

Apparently, quite a few people must think they are going to be besieged for many days.

In the Northeast, they apparently believe that milk and bread are the staples that will carry one through any weather related emergency.

Personally when I lived there, I bought soup or soup making ingredients, when they threatened with snow warnings.
