Somehow I missed this question, more than a month ago now! Tink, the article is astounding...are you indicating the economic system of Mexico is primarily socialism? Or, where is the corrupt socialism aspect?
I looked up the government of Mexico, sounds like it's patterned after ours (USA)...if so, might this article show where ours could end up? Regarding the housing projects, I copied this out; "When streets flood because of inadequate grading — a common problem in the summer — fraying generator cables strewn across streets become submerged, sending electrical currents coursing through knee-high water."
Looking for USA programs that might be somewhat parallel in national scope to this housing project in Mexico, one could mention the Carnegie libraries, or the freeway system of the Eisenhower administration - both of which seemed to come off fine, at least compared to this fiasco!
The large article eventually did freeze my computer, but I think I saw that 20 million people tried to move into these neighborhoods? And it DOES mention that some people became rich from this debacle...
