I decided to delete my Twitter account. I am not active on LinkedIn. I deleted my Facebook account. After a few years on social media, I noticed people didn't use social media for serious perposes. When you publish something serious, almost no one will pay attention. Trolls, scammers, spammers are everywhere. I use messengers to communicate with others. I have my own website. I use many file uploading websites and link bookmarking websites.

You can't be active on too many social media, with all the floods of mails and messages.

And having your own website is already a tedious job.

I don't know if it would be useful (with a filter or the help of the administration of the concerned social media) to simply reduce your activity and the number of contacts, messages and notifications on the most important social media, keeping in contact with the few, who are important to you, just in case, or to use your closest, as much as possible professional, contacts on these sites as intermediaries.

I deactivated my Twitter account. It is needed 30 days to delete my account. I used Instagram and deleted my account. I like to explore Internet and find new websites. Many people think that Facebook and Twitter are the ultimate technology and that is not true.

Yes, the biggest media don't always have the ultimate technology, and but the choice depends on the users and on their interests.

I hear what you saying! Not many out there wish to answer a serious question anymore.

I looked at a site the other day that's new and they should call it Disneyworld. What a joke!

This site is about the only one where I can ask a serious question about history and such and get good answers.

Not that I don't joke around also but sometimes I'm curious about something and only get answers here from intelligent people.

Good idea.

Most social media are a waste of time.

Kninjanin, in theory at least the Internet should be a wonderful way for people to have interesting discussions and make new contacts...but that is not happening as much as it could for the reasons you mention.

I will say that I have made Internet friendships I treasure, and I am grateful for that. But that has been on the Q/A sites, not social media!
