Why The Increasing Mortality Rate Among Less-Educated, Middle Age White Americans?
Opinion:

Yes, Virginia, we heard about the increasing job precarity for less skilled and even more qualified workers.

The same happens everywhere, and the gap between rich and poor is growing:

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-32824770

Performance pressure, low salaries, unhealthy work conditions, cheap labour, outsourcing, the disappearance of small and middle-sized, local enterprises, productions, artisanry, business and whole profession branches, swallowed by mass production sites and big profit corporations, and rising unemployment figures have put whole sectors like productions, services, transportation, technologies, science, education, etc., and especially less skilled and also qualified workers under extreme stress, and with that, mental and physical health, and a growing number of working poor and unemployed cannot afford healthcare and are indebted. Also big production sites were restructured, sold or closed down.

As to the pharmaceutics and agrochemistry, many widely sold products are hazardous:

and illegal business, such as criminal drug cartels, sweat shops, prostitution rings, etc., have added to rising insecurity and violence at all levels. As to the problems with alcohol abuse, they persist at all levels of society.

The painfully obvious goal of sanctuary cities?
Opinion:

There are many controversed views about the latest mass migrations as a consequence of wars, oppression, genocide, religious fanatism, corruption, economical and ecological disasters, not to forget overpopulation, extreme poverty, violence and abuse.

On the one hand, hundreds of thousand desperate migrants are flooding Europe, and many risk their lives to escape war, violence and slavery. But they come in too large numbers; no country can deal properly with them, and mass processing is fraught with fails, abuses and blunders.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/migrants-mediterranean-sea-crossings-2000-dead-world-refugee-day-asylum-seekers-boat-disasters-libya-a7800376.html

Human trafficking, smuggling, modern slavery, illegal drugs, prostitution, etc,. are also opening the doors of host countries to international crime and terrorist organisations, as there is "no market without a substantial demand" in targeted, "rich" and "less rich countries", and people from poor and/or conflict stricken countries, namely refugees, as much as migrants, are vulnerable.

There is also a significant problem with appropriate help, as, in Europe, for instance, the "gate countries" for refugies are experiencing themselves high rates of unemployment and poverty, namely Greece, Spain, Italy and the Balkans, and financial support to provide emergency aid is scarce; as a consequence, they are left alone without appropriate means to help. And, additionally, the so-called wealthy countries have their poor and unemployed, and economic measures cut into local welfare, health and professional reintegration programmes.

On the other hand, German authorities, for instance, belittled certain clashes between their own citizens and large groups of refugees, namely the New Year's Eve attacks in Cologne and several other large cities.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/cologne-new-years-eve-mass-sex-attacks-leaked-document-a7130476.html

Tonight, a documentary reminded of some very shocking facts and that police and authorities were not able to deal properly with the incident in Cologne.

The other countries with high immigration numbers are also dealing with very similar problems, and the so-called PC practices resemble much hypocrisy.

No one can turn a blind eye on such tragedies, but neither can already deeply split host countries neglect large parts of their own populations, namely women and children, and let old and new conflicts and violences from all the sides escalate ...

Lack of Inspiration

Empty sheets await the writer,
but the brain does not get brighter;
with a lack of concentration,
there is no sole illustration.

Noting and crossing out the verbs,
and trying out some tea with herbs;
yet, there is no inspiration
worthy for a celebration.

Searching for ideas to bloom
paces may help, across the room;
the mental emptiness persists,
in spite of how much one insists.

The study of the grammar book
causes the brain to sweat and cook;
writing down what troubles the mind
incites the anger to go blind.

Another try with exercise,
ideas are dull and not concise;
the bad temper blows a gasket
and fills the waste-paper basket.

Strolling throughout the countryside
in the period of Whitsuntide
spreads a feeling of sweet delight,
awakes the thoughts with blissful light …

The story takes a distinct shape
surrounded by the bright landscape,
relief comforts the doubtful heart,
fantasy is ready to start.

Hi Marianne : I don't know any other sites that Virginia is on but you might reach her through this : [email protected] . Yes, I've been able to log in just fine. Give her a note and see what she says. I've talked to her through that before. Good luck!

Oops - we are having a technical mess here; we both need to ask for help.
I tried to answer on your wall, after I woke up - very late today, as a lot went on while I was sleeping.
The chat box was empty ...
Ladyhorse, all I can recommend is to write (or draft) your messages on a document (note pad, etc.), which you can save on a data carrier (USB stick, etc.) and on your own computer (off-line), and then pasting them on or into the corresponding on-line box; if the message does not get through, or if your programme crashes, you can try later, as your text has been saved.

I know, it slows you down, but I have no other solution to propose right now, and I also tend to forget to save texts.

I hope that in spite of all these troubles, you could take a good rest.

Finally the "chat" window came up so I typed you a message and hit "Enter". Walked out in the kitchen to take care of dishes and start the dishwasher...came back but my message still did not get posted. Something is just not right...   :-(
May 14 by Ladyhorse
When I click your avatar in the window to bring up the chat window, computer freezes and I have to leave the site. I come back but cannot reply to any posts...page keeps freezing. I can't even   :-(  ???  Could not open my notifications and now looks like they've been removed??
May 14 by Ladyhorse
I am communicating here because I am having a real hard time trying to bring up the "chat" window. The computer keeps freezing, I restarted it once and have to leave the site and come back to get in here.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Don't worry.
Nobody is perfect.

By the way, there have been very upsetting news about ransomware attacks, and that concerns us all.
Dan has transmitted the alert. If you need technical advice for your computer and your on-line connections, please ask Dan for advice about how to protect your data.

Here's some news:

I really think you misunderstood...I'm not looking for any medical advice...I was trying to explain why I should not keep sitting for lengthy periods of time but sometimes I push myself anyway because I'm trying to finish something.

Unfortunately from multiple head traumas I have decreased inhibition.  I tend to get too friendly and trust too much.  I confide way too much,  get betrayed and feel like I've had the wind knocked out of me.
May 13 by Ladyhorse
O.K., the message on the wall worked. Now, regarding the technical problem, Dan can arrange that. As to the medical problem, I must ask for an expert's advice, as I don't know what's better for you. Thank you for being patient.
