Still Concerned About Climate Change Research; Recent Report From the US Government?
Opinion:

Yes, Virginia, I have been looking for many years into environmental problems and their causes.

And ecological problems due to human "activities" are not so recent as many think, but there were and are also other than human interferences.

Climate changes occurred during earth history, long before the human species was "born":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_disaster

And smaller climate variations followed during human history, for instance

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_Warm_Period

But the list of environmental issues is very long, and the human presence on earth caused significant impacts:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_environmental_issues

These are just a few of the main causes for a climatic change, which can be caused by human and non-human interferences (check references and links):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erosion

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desertification

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollution

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overexploitation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_impact_of_irrigation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_impact_of_war

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_overpopulation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_sprawl

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litter

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waste

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intensive_farming

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_security

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_engineering

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aridification

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soil_retrogression_and_degradation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_collapse

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_capacity

Useful tools to assess the ecological impacts of single products, services, activities, etc. are the so called "life cycle assessments", involving every step, action, interaction, "footprint", circumstances, etc., from the cradle to the grave.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life-cycle_assessment

And we know that since long, the human impact is one of the main causes of environmental depletion, because certain changes are much too fast to be caused alone by natural processes.

Additionally, most ruling and warfaring clans, monarchs, ministers, big bosses or "religious" leaders did/do not really care for the welfare of their own people - in the past and in present times ... Humans are too often the worst ennemy of their own species - at all the levels.

With the present propaganda, hate, threatening, shaming and insulting campaigns, most people don't know whom they can trust, as radicalism, fascism, sexism and perversion are on the rise.

Oh, no! Charlie Rose -- Mr. Clean of PBS -- accused by eight women of harassment?
Opinion:

Oh, such "strategies" were even wide-spread (and still are) - much like very foul jokes, comments and insults, which you could find at all the levels of society, whether bullying or sexual harassment.

That reminds me of certain TV shows, namely entertainment and "reality" TV; there will always be some popular moderator or entertainer tearing down other people, whether invited or regularly participating celebrities or stars, professional rivals, colleagues, experts, scientists, poets, musicians, etc., who are overcriticised, slandered, ridiculed or "caricaturised" - and oversexualised or de-humanised (also men).

Maybe that many people are applauding "blood flows" on the scenes (and behind the scenes), as they don't realise how easily reputations, ideals, projects, careers and whole families can be destroyed.

And famous women are, of course, a "choice cut".

But even what was, formerly, considered "normal", i.e. the "conflict between sexes", is, legally, not normal any more, mentalities have not evolved sufficiently, and a closer look into the real roots of abuse and sexism was rarely taken, while censorship and taboos, and, for certain, the fear of losing privileges, wealth and power, are still one of the main obstacles.

And what's happening on TV, in the movies, on the music scenes and in other artistic domains, resembles much politics, business, service providing, consumption, education, "religious" groups, etc.

Here's an example from the TV industries, one of the most known cases (namely 3, 4, 5): https://www.thelocal.fr/20170523/is-cyril-hanouna-the-most-unpleasant-person-on-french-television

one, in the sports sectors:

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/11/04/cover-the-athlete-sexist-questions-women-in-sport_n_8470420.html

and another one in politics:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/jul/22/barbara-ellen-cecile-duflots-dress

There are many more, perhaps less evident affairs and intrigues, but for many women, men and their families, such humiliations and ruined reputations can hurt more than expected and have serious consequences.

Lack of Inspiration

Empty sheets await the writer,
but the brain does not get brighter;
with a lack of concentration,
there is no sole illustration.

Noting and crossing out the verbs,
and trying out some tea with herbs;
yet, there is no inspiration
worthy for a celebration.

Searching for ideas to bloom
paces may help, across the room;
the mental emptiness persists,
in spite of how much one insists.

The study of the grammar book
causes the brain to sweat and cook;
writing down what troubles the mind
incites the anger to go blind.

Another try with exercise,
ideas are dull and not concise;
the bad temper blows a gasket
and fills the waste-paper basket.

Strolling throughout the countryside
in the period of Whitsuntide
spreads a feeling of sweet delight,
awakes the thoughts with blissful light …

The story takes a distinct shape
surrounded by the bright landscape,
relief comforts the doubtful heart,
fantasy is ready to start.

Hi Marianne : I don't know any other sites that Virginia is on but you might reach her through this : [email protected] . Yes, I've been able to log in just fine. Give her a note and see what she says. I've talked to her through that before. Good luck!

Oops - we are having a technical mess here; we both need to ask for help.
I tried to answer on your wall, after I woke up - very late today, as a lot went on while I was sleeping.
The chat box was empty ...
Ladyhorse, all I can recommend is to write (or draft) your messages on a document (note pad, etc.), which you can save on a data carrier (USB stick, etc.) and on your own computer (off-line), and then pasting them on or into the corresponding on-line box; if the message does not get through, or if your programme crashes, you can try later, as your text has been saved.

I know, it slows you down, but I have no other solution to propose right now, and I also tend to forget to save texts.

I hope that in spite of all these troubles, you could take a good rest.

Finally the "chat" window came up so I typed you a message and hit "Enter". Walked out in the kitchen to take care of dishes and start the dishwasher...came back but my message still did not get posted. Something is just not right...   :-(
May 14 by Ladyhorse
When I click your avatar in the window to bring up the chat window, computer freezes and I have to leave the site. I come back but cannot reply to any posts...page keeps freezing. I can't even   :-(  ???  Could not open my notifications and now looks like they've been removed??
May 14 by Ladyhorse
I am communicating here because I am having a real hard time trying to bring up the "chat" window. The computer keeps freezing, I restarted it once and have to leave the site and come back to get in here.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Don't worry.
Nobody is perfect.

By the way, there have been very upsetting news about ransomware attacks, and that concerns us all.
Dan has transmitted the alert. If you need technical advice for your computer and your on-line connections, please ask Dan for advice about how to protect your data.

Here's some news:

I really think you misunderstood...I'm not looking for any medical advice...I was trying to explain why I should not keep sitting for lengthy periods of time but sometimes I push myself anyway because I'm trying to finish something.

Unfortunately from multiple head traumas I have decreased inhibition.  I tend to get too friendly and trust too much.  I confide way too much,  get betrayed and feel like I've had the wind knocked out of me.
May 13 by Ladyhorse
O.K., the message on the wall worked. Now, regarding the technical problem, Dan can arrange that. As to the medical problem, I must ask for an expert's advice, as I don't know what's better for you. Thank you for being patient.
