It bothers me when the TV is blasting, no matter what I'm doing, but the answer is mixed. Reading takes me away, and if the book is good enough, chances are I would be able to ignore it better than if I wasn't reading. However, I'd most likely insist the TV be turned down, or better yet, off. If that wasn't possible, I'd just leave.
