I generally try to avoid parties because of, you know, people, but if I'm forced to go, I mostly just stand quietly in the corner, sipping a drink as I wait until it's socially acceptable to make my exit.

I used to go to parties around that high school/post military phase, but.....bleh.....it got old
Now, parties center around the Holidays with family.  I was never one to act out, but in either case, for me it was about drifting between clumps of people to talk and laugh.  I was never much for any type of insanity you generally watch the drunk and stoopid get up to.....I'd like to think I was more about intelligent humor and enjoying a good laugh with those I was talking with at the moment.
