WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE BLACK BOYCOTT AT THE OSCARS

1. The Black population of the United States is roughly 13%
2. The Latino population is much greater.
3. The movie industry is a FOR PROFIT risky business.
If the above facts are true; Why should awards be based upon race, religion, age or sexual preference?

"12 Years a Slave" did win the Best Picture Oscar, however, I know this year there were some snubs in the acting categories among African-Americans.  Instead of a boycott, it would be more powerful if some of the actors/actresses would be sincere and return their Oscars to the Academy

It already looks somewhat promising that "The Birth of a Nation" will win the Oscar next year for Best Picture of the Year.  The pressure will be on the Academy members to make sure of it.

Whydoes one class of homosapiens deserve a "make sure of it!"  that brings me to the Muslims whining about their unrealistic demands. Just asking.  Isn't it kind of getting old. Not necessarily my opinion. But there already is a significant percent of great black actors and musicians  beyond that 13% population. Why isnt that enough?

The government should take over the movie business and fund it with taxes, then everything would be fair, and oscars would be given out on the basis of seniority and racial/ethnic/gender/LBGT quotas.

I think it's less an international conspiracy than it is our own home-grown rich liberal oligarchs seeing a dumbed-down society as a means of staying in power indefinitely, with a poorly-educated underclass permanently dependent on government handouts acting as their political base.

Or they could save time and give it to Samuel L. Jackson since he IS the black guy in every movie.

Woomen complaintoo olderr folks complain not enough parts  The Blame comes partially on $$$$ the highest grossing films are ANIMATED BLOCKBUSTERS WHERE THE ART OF ACTING IS NOT REQUIRED !!!

I do think that there should be more categories for movies  perhaps musicals, comedy cat and an animated cat and then of course alloty more actors per category and by golly how bout 1st and second runner up with bouquets of flowersand crowns  LOLOL

I see no reason to base awards for anything on anything other than merit.

Having said that, I couldn't care less about the Oscars. It no longer amounts to anything to be nominated. I live for the day when I read that those Crusader Knight statuettes suddenly self-animated, raised their broadswords, and chased all those monkey-suited ne'er-do-wells off the stage.

I understand that. If the Oscars still amounted to more than a hill of beans, I would definitely concentrate on condemning those "black leaders" as total hypocrites. As long as they have the BET awards and the Ebony awards, let them not talk to me about discrimination at the Oscars. If they aren't today producing a Sidney Poitier or a Morgan Freeman, that's not my fault, nor that of any white Academy member or honoree.

It's just that that the Oscars are a sick joke today. Time was when it amounted to something even to get a nomination for an Oscar. But today it's all political--inside Hollywood or outside. It makes me sick. That's why I couldn't care all that much about the black boycott of the Oscars. Because I am boycotting the Oscars, though for different reasons.
