It probably wouldn't be smart at my age. ANY landing, no matter how safe, would be painful. But I would certainly have done it in the past. I was nearly 60 when I started learning to fly a hang glider and that's not too different.
My guardian angel has a sense of humour. She was learning with me and one of her landings went wrong. She lost her footing as she came in but the kite kept flying and dragged her along the ground for a bit, straight through a pile of fresh cow manure. Boy, was she on the nose! She injured her shoulder in that landing and it was too painful to wash the cow dung out of her clothes but, when I got them clean, it was miraculously healed. Funny that.
Tsk, tsk, tsk... She should have used her wings instead of trying to learn a new flight medium while having her hands full guarding you. That's what I would have done in her place.
