I own a Bible and have no interest in owning a gun!
A Bible isn't going to do much to deter someone who's threatening me or my family. About all I could do is chuck it at them or hit them with it.

I've found that one tends to address the immediate while the other adddresses both the immediate and eternal.
Sounds like a question for Republicans whose election platform appears centered around the three G's: God, guns and gays.
