I ordered a bonsai kit online from New York. It included a 5 year old tree that was semi-trimmed, already planted in a nice bonsai pot, a book, fertilizer, some training wire and a small shear for cutting. I've since bought another book and some tools. It's a lot of fun.
Mine is a Willow Leaf Ficus. I wanted a bonsai that I could keep inside year round. That's a major factor when choosing a bonsai. In my climate, I could leave it outside during the spring, summer and fall but would have to bring it inside for the winter. I have way too many visitors, mostly kids, to keep it outside and don't have a nice private area for it. That's why I chose a plant that does well inside.
Not I.My gardening thumb has a reverse Midas touch: everything I try to grow turns to crap .. and no even the kind you can use for compost. But Mrs Didge most certainly has a green thumb. She has made us a beautiful garden.
Raised on a farm.....I worked gardens measured in acres. Sucked growing up doing it, but I learned certain values, and I still maintain a garden for my own use so....good training? ha.
Yes my Garden when at it's best , stops People in their tracks and that makes me feel so damn Proud.
Sun Flowers the size of dinner plates dancing up to the Sun
My Girl and I will be re planting our garden soon and the Kids in the st will want to join in planting , they always do , they have their own Sunflowers and race each other because I tag their names on them.
I tell them the more Love put into planting them , the Bigger they grow lolz I actually Believe this.
I feel so Sad when Winter destroys my Plants :(
Beating the Black Fly to my Beautiful Lilies early every morning , watching Flowers that close in the Evening is fascinating and the Scent is Heavenly , even grew Flowers that smelled of Chocolate *Bizarre*
lolz to think my Nan used to say to me as a Girl "they're not Weeds you Pudding , now put them back"
Now that I'm retired I have some time to properly care for one.
