Until about a year ago I watched every night. The news at 6.00 was followed by a very sleazy, tabloid-TV show that was yellow journalism at its worst. That one I DIDN'T watch.
Then about a year back Australia's 7 network dropped the sleaze (which wasn't faring well in the ratings) and substituted an hour-long news broadcast.
Yeah. Right.
What they actually did was slide the beat-ups into the news with a very high portion of the news now being devoted to publicity for the Real Estate Institute as they report house auctions as though they were news.
The result? I no longer watch TV news but pick up all I need to know from the Internet with my three main sources being the ABC (Australia's national broadcaster), the BBC, the Guardian, and the Huffington Post. Bye-bye Channel 7; you used to be a good news channel.
I watch and read the internet...
While surfing from site to site, I stop by several news sites at various times during the day to keep abreast of the days events.
