I think it will have a hit with him in that movie.
I am pessimistic about this remake because the Claude Rains original remains a masterpiece.
It will probably be a hit; Depp is a good actor and well respected even if it fails to surpass the original in the eyes of classic movie fans.
A remake of anything considered a classic, to me, is ill-advised. Mileages vary of course
