If you own a coffee brewing machine, how often do you descale it?

My brother owns one and he descales it about every 6 weeks.

My Mom has one, in the house, and I am not sure if it got descaled yet, as it is near new. Then there is another one that is elsewhere at the moment, that you put those coffee pods or whatever you call them. I cleaned that thing once, otherwise, I don't know.
