Yes and I have ! When I used to fly my BF109g? It was like flying like an eagle. All alone in the sky to do whatever I wish. I sure do miss flying as there is nothing in the world that beats the rush of flying those single seat warbirds!

Fairies can fly BETTER than eagles, Marianne:D

Lol - in this case, the poor eagle has no chance (if referring to hang gliders, when colours do not "suit", or to carrying capacity), as fairies can organise transport facilities and comment the sight-seeing tour - unless you are Nils Holgersson (as a light weight) and have an eagle like Gorgo at hand.

:):angel::D

@ Marianne:

Gorgo is a gentle eagle.  But the fairies know how to take care of the mean ones.  :)

@T(h)ink

Oh, that is perfect - :) ...

By the way, they show sometimes Disney's animated series, including the fairies, on some TV channels over here; I'll have to check where. :)

Yes, I think Nyx would be especially popular in Switzerland.  She is big on self-defense and keeping away the evildoers. :D

Well, Nyx seems to be a model of discipline and loyalty, devoted to safety, but I think that Tinkerbell brings colours, phantasy and laughs, because she is not too perfect.

Well - I think that both would be appreciated - lol, and also their friends.

Absolutely! Three of my sons have flown hang gliders and have, at times, had eagles fly alongside them. They're attracted by these strange people winging through their part of the sky.

They're not usually dangerous but at a major Australian event in the 1990s at which scores of gliders competed, the local eagle took a dislike to a Japanese competitor who had just purchased a new high performance glider from Birdman Bill Moyes in Sydney and had taken it to the competition to try it out. I don't know whether the bird (a female) took a dislike to the colour of the kite or if it was just racist, but every time the guy flew into her section of the course she attacked his wing. (I don't know how badly it was damaged but he was able to keep flying throughout.)

I want to ride in a biplane at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.  :)

http://oldrhinebeck.org/

Oops, wait a minute... that seems not to be entirely without risk. :O  Fortunately, the pilot walks away from his mishap, punching the plane (or the ground? I'm not sure which) in frustration at 1:20 of this clip.

by

Just need to fly in a great Biplane like this one!  I was ready to make a trade for one before the Docs grounded me. I flew a couple of these with people and they're the best!

@ Rooster:

Yep, the struts on the landing gear seem to be much sturdier on your plane.  :)

I found this clip of a PT 17.  At 4:50, the flyer comes in for a landing practically sideways, and only straightens out just before touchdown.  :O  How did he do that?!  I want to take flying lessons!  :)

by

Those planes are so light and nimble that you really have to watch the wind sock when you land. One flick of the stick and a touch of rudder and it comes right down straight as can be.

by

OMG, nimble is right, Rooster!  In this clip (at 10:00), John Mohr flies his Stearman sideways for an even greater distance than shown in the clip above.  The man is an artist. I've been to a few airshows, but never saw anything like that. :O

And LOL, at 10:35, he wiggles his rudder back and forth, as if to say, "Betcha can't do that."  :D

by

Ha! You should have flown with me or my Uncle that taught me to fly! I scared quite a few people with my antics! LOL

by

I'm glad you survived the antics, Rooster!  If any trained pilots were scared, your antics must have been a little on the risky side!  :O
