Oops - the cooking smells! I remember, long ago, that the cooking of cabbage was rather smelly. But most kitchens have an exhaust hood, and there are windows too ...
I visited often zoos, nature parks, animal shelters and catteries with friends and colleagues, but all, including breeders of cats and/or dogs had/have usually their own houses with a big garden and small numbers of cubs - there was/is no mass breeding, and smells were/are not so strong. And the smelliest were/are dogs - especially when they got/get wet - lol.
Sadly enough, many pets with pedigree are bought from mostly illegal, often foreign breeding factories and smugglers using fake identities, while animal shelters are overfilled with abandoned and lost animals.
That reminds much of human trafficking.
