I never met a man I didn't like, until I turned 5.  :P

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather, not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Rooster between you and Tink, I have been laughing about five minutes now!!!  :D

@ Virginia, laughter is the best medicine... no paraprosdokian there.  :)

by

Well except then, O'Tink, we might have to worry about what would be the SECOND-best medicine? And that is because of George Carlin's paraprosdokian, where he claims that if honesty is the best policy, then by the process of elimination DIShonesty must be the second-best policy...  :ninja:  <3  ;)

Wait a minute, Virginia!   My critical thinking skills tell me that if honesty is the best policy, then dishonesty is simply less than best, not necessarily second-best.  Heck, it might be 100th-best, assuming of course that it isn't an exclusive two-option choice.  ;)

Well, (and I think this is Hon. Geo. Carlin also?) ... who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes? (Hmmm...maybe that is a form of paraprosdokian itself? Anyway this wonderful word just makes my day...)

Here's one I read this morning in Jeffrey Deaver's The Twelfth Card. A young lad had sold information to a murderer and followed it up with, "I don't know what you plan to do but when the police come calling I might remember this conversation, unless you want to pay me some more money." And the murderer said, "Just when you think somebody couldn't get any more stupid, they go and prove you wrong."

Didge, every crime drama I watch, seems like somebody is trying to blackmail the murderer...duh...:'(  :D  <3...anyway this Q has made for some wonderful laughs!
