Is painting skin brown or black racist? I just don't live in a multiracial country and so I just don't know.

By current politically-correct, left-wing standards (if they can be called standards), yes, it is racist.

But it is particularly funny when a sanctimonious lefty like Trudeau is caught having done that. :D

It probably can be construed as such Now but in the past it wasn't.We used to have the Black and White Minstrels on British TV and Lenny Henry was on the show for a bit.

I don't know about "Black and White Minstrels" show. But, it is not OK with to mock any community (especially if they don't like it). Just makeup as personal preference is OK. Since dark-skinned people do white markup to look fair.

At the same time, I don't like people calling fair-skinned people as racist when they are really not. I don't like keeping them in constant fear of being tagged as "racist" for everything.

It might be today but wasn't always! Today's PC crowd is crying about it but it's also a part of our history!

Yes but 2001 wasn't 1927!  :ermm:

I can understand it. But, it is not OK if a particular community thinks that the content is to mock them (some people find it fun while some gets offended). For example: The movie 'Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom' was banned in India due to the controversial portrayal of Indians. But I just find it funny and I don't know why people have to offend by it.

The label of "racism" has been heavily applied in recent years by white liberals in the West to smear their political opponents. It is amusing when one of their own, like Trudeau, is hoist by his own petard.

If you are speaking about Trudeau, no it wasn't racist. He was going to an Aladdin theme party, and he was dressed up as...wait for it......ALADDIN!!

It wasn't racist?

Gee, that's strange. Trudeau himself said it was racist, just a day or two ago.

Was he lying? :D

Yes, and I wish he hadn't, but I guess when you are a politician you can't be too careful.

Yes he was lying?  Well, it wouldn't be the first time.

And at least two more pictures of Justin wearing blackface/brownface have emerged in the meantime. :D

Who cares? I am sure we have all done things years ago that make us want to cringe today.

The Democrats certainly seemed to care a lot about the (uncorroborated) claims of what Kavanaugh supposedly did in high school and college. And no pictures.  :D

Besides, Trudeau was a 29-year-old teacher when he was "Aladdin", not a high school or college kid.

And he seems to be getting very friendly with the woman next to him... one hand on her chest, the other on her belly. :ermm:

I still say that if you are a fair skin person going as Aladdin to a theme party than it makes sense to darken your skin. What next, the banning of theater makeup?

If you use makeup to mock Trump, for example, or any white Republican for that matter, that's perfectly all right, as far as progressives are concerned. But dressing up as a minority or someone that could be construed as a victim of white colonialism, no, that's strictly taboo. Just listen to Trudeau's abject apologies, if you don't believe me. He said his "white privilege" made him blind to the harm he was doing. :D

BTW, Justin seems to have a great penchant for dressing up in costume, even during state visits as Prime Minister.

He dispensed with the skin makeup on the above occasion, however. :D :D :D

He visited because Canada because Sikhs are the largest immigrant group there and he wants their vote. “I have more Sikhs in my Cabinet than Modi does,” - Mr. Trudeau. https://www.thehindu.com/news/international/i-have-more-sikhs-in-cabinet-than-modi-canadian-pm/article8348687.ece

Yes, of course it is Trudeau being a shameless politician, pandering to whatever ethnic group he thinks he can get votes from, by dressing up in costume. :D
