I use to live there when I was in my middle teens, wasn't like that then.
You're right, SF was nice, before they let the homeless and drug problems get out of control.
I've always loved tent camping. Our biggest problem was always finding a level spot .... sometimes slid downhill and woke up in the great outdoors. We only had an animal scare once, but whatever it was elected to pass us by.
Finding a big spider inside the tent. (happened once when I was little)
That's even scarier than spiders!
And it didn't help that I just finished a book on Timothy Treadwell.
I will never understand why he and his girlfriend didn't carry guns, just in case.
Yeah, no kidding or at least a can of mace. Even the sound of firecrackers have been known to scare them off.
These are the bears found in India.
But Sloth Bear is the most common and found throughout India. It may be small but it has attacked (also killed) most people in India.
The difference between Big cats and bear is - Cats just bite but bears eat face.
I wouldn't want to encounter any of them in the wild!

They mostly attack humans when encounter it, and usually extremely aggressive. It has sharp claws and teeth.

Nothing that I can think of at the moment. I've always preferred to sleep in the open. Never liked tents.
