Hi Kninjanin,
I absolutely could not bring myself to vote for either Biden or Trump...I chose a 3rd party candidate, it was either Libertarian or Green Party, don't really recall. I thought about writing in Eugene V. Debs (Debs was a socialist ... convicted of sedition in 1918).
His statement at his sentencing hearing on Sept. 14, 1918 has become a classic, called "one of the most beautiful and moving passages in the English language." Here is a quote:
"Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element, I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free."
I think Tink's post presents the best reason to vote for Trump. As for Biden, Washington State where I live is geographically conservative, even though it goes blue because of the large population in the big liberal cities. And it is in our rural areas I see the reason to vote for Biden; all the ultra-conservatives here ready to mount an armed revolution if Trump loses... How do we divert away from that violent dynamic not continue to encourage it over four more years, as Trump does?
Biden has been a war-monger in his own right, however, and neither candidate is acceptable to me.
