It's a shame that so many people just say: Happy Memorial Day and treat it like any holiday.

I'm sorry as it's never a "happy" Memorial Day to me.

Too many harsh memories for me.

What is Memorial Day in the USA?

Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday in May to remember and honor the dead of all US wars.

Some people wear poppy flowers on Memorial Day. This comes from the famous poem, "In Flanders Fields," written by Canadian soldier Col. John McCrae during WW1.
