I still have trouble believing this. But he has lost close to 30 head now and shot one of the rustlers but they keep coming back!

:O  What happened to the rustler he shot?

Did the rustler get away?

And how do the rustlers steal the cattle? Do the put them on trucks and drive away?

Arrested him and he's still in the hospital from what he's told me. Coppers just took a statement from Q. and that was it. Not enough people to patrol everywhere.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

He has seen truck tire tracks near where they have cut the heavy duty fences, so they think it's a snatch and run.

What a pain... pretty soon they'll need to implant RFID monitors in each cow, and maybe rig electronic notification if the fence is breached anywhere.

And yes, lack of cops sounds familiar.

It does happen in India.

Are there CCTV cameras nearby to identify them? So the cops can take action?

No, not at all. Pretty hard up there to put up any kind of cameras due to weather and would be hard to watch almost 800 acres. He's out in the sticks all right!

Is it beef cattle or dairy cattle? Do you have a branding symbol on them?

Mainly Beef cattle.

Rooster, the rustling is especially troublesome because cattle ranchers are having such a difficult struggle now. The drought, cattle prices low, and hard to overwinter them because it's not easy to find hay. I know that because my cousins in the Okanogan Highlands of Washington State are struggling now.

Does your son think the people are selling the cattle, or are they just hungry, does he have any guesses?

From what the nearest Sheriff told him, it's been happening all over the Southern part of the state and they think they sell them off.

He's nice enough to give a couple to the poor but you rarely see them out there.

Received Rooster, all I can do is wish your son well in this precarious time...the cattle are his means of providing for his family, and I do remember he has two teenage daughters who you love very much and take such delight! Oh...maybe they are grown and gone now, time doth passeth you know?

Yes, they're grown up now. One moved to Cheyenne to go to College and the younger one is in Laramie.

Yes, somewhat. Not like the Old West but not far off.

It is stupid.
