Sir Furry, I could not be certain what really happened here...was it that the back wheels did not go down properly? Why did the rear of the plane touch the ground?

The pilot managed to go up very quickly, steeply, after the tail hit the ground...I saw in the liner notes the commentator said he should get a medal...do you know what happened?

It was a very windy day and planes were all having trouble landing..l think this plane was caught by a huge gust as it was about to touch down...

Gerry always turns up at Heathrow when it’s windy.

Touch and goes are not unusual in these conditions but that was a spectacular one.

Pilots are trained for these things.

My Ukrainian friend on SW flies small planes and she has to do these to keep her licence.

Something like that happened to me about 20 years ago. Our flight was within two or three seconds of touchdown (we had passed the stripes at the beginning of the runway), when all of a sudden, the pilot gunned the engines and took off again.

He got on the intercom a minute or so later, and explained that a small private plane had wandered onto our runway just as we were coming in. Our pilot circled around and landed without incident about 5 minutes later.
