Anthony Quinn, too! Somehow I never saw that movie...I notice the comments include an opinion that Barabbas is one of the most underrated films ever.
I have loved him since childhood...now, knowing his name and origin to attribute those rather mysterious Slavic good looks, that makes me like him even more!
I always thought he was (at least partly) Native American.
But apparently not.
He certainly does have the high cheekbones, dark straight hair...yes, looking at his photo again, that would have been a very good guess.
Looks like Volodymyr / Vladimir is a common name in Ukraine and Russia.
