Houses in India are primarily built with concrete and brick, which provide durability and fire resistance, meaning fires are less likely to spread. Unlike wooden houses common in the USA, concrete houses offer better resistance to strong winds and storms. However, they are not entirely tornado-proof, as extreme tornadoes can cause significant damage.

I guess wood is used in cold climates but Los Angeles is in sunny areas?

California elites mostly don't like concrete construction; that's for the redneck hoi-polloi.

But Al Gore seems to be partially covered.

At least he seems to have a terra-cotta shingled roof. :D

Preference for wood in US constructionDespite its vulnerability to fire, wood remains the dominant construction material in the US, especially in coastal California. Wood's lightweight and cost-effective nature makes it a preferred choice for areas prone to earthquakes.

I brick and stone houses. I think that wooden house is a bad solution.
