The Iranians' purpose in releasing those videotapes was to thump their chests, to humiliate the US, and the fool Kerry played right into their hands, points certainly not lost on our allies in the Middle East.

A simple announcement that the navy personnel had been released, without Kerry's abject groveling, would have sufficed.

The President’s no comment and John Kerry's down-playing of the whole ordeal shows the Administration’s weakness, and that Iran will benefit greatly from it.

Now, Iran uses the images to propagandize their strength to the Middle East. This was no friendly maritime assist. It was a coordinated PR stunt to humiliate Barack Obama and the USA, And it worked.
