Actually, I had to do with many books - old and new ones - was often in libraries, bookshops, archives, etc. But things have changed, paper documents were replaced by electronic texts and files, specialised shops and many libraries disappeared. You won't find this typical smell in modern shops and markets selling all kinds of items, besides books, unless you can find one of the few surviving, old-fashioned book-shops.
