The Chicxulub crater, caused by the asteroid impact that led to the Cretaceous extinction, released an energy of about 500 million Megatons, which is about 80,000 times the energy of all the nuclear weapons in the world (about 6,000 Megatons).
A nuclear catastrophe might very well wipe out humanity, but ALL life on Earth? Hardly. The Earth has survived much, much worse in the past.
My guess is that 1) It won't happen in my lifetime or 2) It will happen after the post WWII (1940s/1950s) baby boomers are gone and the Chinese baby boomer in the 1960s (due to Mao, wanting as many people as possible encouraging it) are leaving this world.
I will not try to predict a year, but I don't think it can go on like it does much longer.
Unfortunately, the population will have a dramatic decrease in the year when a nuclear war takes place.
Do you think there will be a nuclear war? Then all the living things will die too.
Nonsense.
