That would depend on the zoo. Some are better than others. There are a couple of zoos in my state where the animals have lots of open space; Good for the animals (there are lots of breeding programs in place for endangered species0 and good for the visitors.

nah.....not that big on it.  When I was going to boat building school up on the border of Canada, I frequently had lunch out at Quoddy Head where I could see things like whales, porpoise, and eagles etc.  Much more entertaining to see them in the wild.

Yes, the good zoos have an essential role in preserving and saving rare and endangered species, informing visitors and students about wildlife and domestic animals, they do not only present their properties, beauty, importance, behaviour, qualities, habits, needs, etc., they provide additional knowledge and teach respect for life and nature.

The same applies to botanical gardens.

I like watching animals but it will be nice if they have a lot of land like how they be in the wild.
