I think I only seen the one from 1958. I know I seen one of them atleast and almost sure it was the one from 58 since it seemed very old.
The original 1958 version was creepy. The end gave me nightmares.
The 1986 remake was lame in comparison. It was more graphic and gross. Not in a good way either.
When it comes to movies I always love creepy over gory.

Sci-Fi/Horror remakes are only rarely as good or better than the originals, often depending as they do more on special effects than on acting.
I liked the 1958 version better. The newer one was just gross.

While I enjoy both of them, this is one case where I prefer the remake (even if only by a small margin).
