Very special agent, Anthony DiNozzo, once described a turkey vulture as "Twenty years past a cougar; still likes to hunt but too old to ring down her prey."

I'm afraid God comes into that category. He was a pretty good hunter up to about the 1950s but these days he lacks sufficient relevance to make an impact.

@ Didge:   God has done considerably better than the new religion that came to the fore  in the first half of the 20th century in large parts of the world, complete with its sects and heresies, e.g., Marxist-Leninists, Trotskyites, Stalinists, Maoists, etc.

Today, very few take any of them seriously any more, except of course for some academic fellow travelers, a North Korean lunatic and a superannuated Cuban dictator.

Btw, China today is communist in name only (CINO?).  They have long since abandoned the deranged thoughts of Chairman Mao.  The Chinese Dictatorship of the Proletariat has been buying off the proletariat by embracing private enterprise in an effort to preserve the dictatorship.

China is now best described as corporatist, not communist.
