I think $50 is outrageous and I read that "Screening Room" only allows you to rent the movie for a 48 hour period.

Well, it depends. Some movies are just better to see at a theater. However saying that, a night at the movies for us can cost $100+ so paying $50 for a movie we can all watch at home can be enticing.

Besides, there are things you can do in the privacy of your home, you can't to in a theater

Nope.  Just wait until it's uploaded to the interweb and watch it for free at home. It's better that way.
