Did your high school have a designated area for students to smoke?

No.

There were a few unsanctioned spots people did smoke in, though. One behind the vocational building and the other in a coed bathroom near the driver's education building that was supposed to remain locked, but a student (who's father had a key lathe and cutting machine) made a few copies before he returned it to the coach/driver's ed teacher.

Yes, there was a designated area on campus for students to smoke.

Not an officially designated area, no, but the kids who smoked usually did so out behind the gym.

No, the teacher just told us to not smoke right outside the school building but we could smoke on the school ground a little further away.

Sure did.  And most of the time we abided by the rules. :-)
