No, when I grew up . I lived in Northern California and it never snowed in the vallry. But where I live now? My girls are always trying to get out of school because of the snow but they don't have make-up days here anymore.

They don't have a state law mandating 180 days of school where you are?

They do in NY state, but it's a joke, because a half-day in June (when nothing gets taught anyway) counts as a make-up day for a full day lost to snow.

The teachers' union must have written that law for the legislators who rubber-stamped it.

No, no laws about that here. I guess it's because they're so used to the snow that they work around it. My wife makes sure they get there !
