Can you melt old expired and cut up credit cards in the oven, to make a craft out of them?

If so how and what temperature?

Don't really know but I saw a Pinterest article about things you can make out of them. Melting them sounds like a stinky mess to me. I'll just grind them up for recycle .

As a kid in Grade 2, kids brought pills bottles to school. The teacher wanted clear ones, for whatever reason and the clear ones were melted into the oven (the adults did the dangerous stuff, don't worry) I don't think I still have it, but the once pill bottle became a charm for a necklace with some things in it.
