I would like to go to Cotonou in Benin because of an online friend. I like to travel to Southeastern Asia, Eastern Asia and Africa.

Away from the endless rain, storms and darkness.

HegeMarie, the words look Welsh; or maybe Norwegian/Danish? Are you in Wales or maybe you are in Norway or Denmark?

You can come to India in summer)

No rain, no storm, and sunlight till 7 PM)

But the temperature will reach 35-degree c depending on where you on India.

At least now there is electricity.

I heard in the North Pole and South Pole region, people have to experience long darker hours.

You're good!

This is from my city Bergen, Norway.

It's been raining almost non stop for the last 3 days, and the storm gods are up to no good for the next 10 days either :(

If I go to India it would be in your winter time, since I can't stand that heat either.

Somewhere inbetween the extremes would be ideal ;)

You are right about the Poles. 6 months with no sun followed by 6 months of daylight.

Poor Santa Claus!

Hi HegeMarie,

Well I have always loved traveling, but now I am age 75 and I mostly been there, done that...I like people and pretty much contented wherever I go...but right now, the inner life is very rich and all I really need is a snug room or two comfortable for my aging (but still surprisingly flexible) body.

Doesn't really matter where.

So now I am in the lovely prairies of Southwest Washington State, only fifty miles inland from the (rainy) Pacific raincoast where I was born -- did I mention it rains there? An' we got a lovely rainy day right here now too, so I have already done my traveling for the day, all the way to the kitchen where in a little bit I'm gonna make some healthy banana/oats/teff/apple/cottage cheese cookies!

There's no place like home! For better or worse ;)

I would love to visit your region one day.

Do you never get the urge to travel anymore?

Can I have a cookie?

Well (sigh) sometimes my heart does yearn to go to, well, Iceland...:)...do you know about the Huldufolk there? I think maybe they are on the Faroe Islands, too. Then there is India, with its tremendous ancient history of the great religions and Sanskrit. And I have never been to Australia, I would like to visit Tasmania with their convict heritage, as well as the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Tremendous history of humankind in Australia, it is said the aboriginal people have been there 40,000 years! But very tragic there now with the massive bushfires.

My own ancestry (Heinz 57 varieties, my father used to say) includes mostly Sweden, and I might like to check out the family there too! So, we will see...

Oh and yes by all means, you can have some cookies!

Maybe off to Bali where my youngest son is. One of the few places there I haven't been too. From what I hear? They're having a blast!

Bali? Does he work there?

It's on my (way too long) bucket list :)

by

No, he and a few friends all went there for a long vacation.
