It's rare, Kninjanin. Cats are small and vulnerable, they have a very difficult time without someone to care for them. Here is one of the accounts on YouTube that I upvote and give 'like' whenever I see him.

The person who makes this channel is a pianist, he is in Istanbul, and he rescues cats from the street, and takes them for medical attention. I think he shares his home with about eleven of them now...one is blind, another has only one eye, one is missing a leg. But they all love his piano playing, and you can see how much they love him.

I have heard of it, but never knew of such a case personally.

It has definitely happened.  I know of several cases up to ten or more years. :)

I've heard of it, but I never personally knew a cat that did it.

I've heard that before but I've never had a cat! :D

Wish some of them that hang around in my barns would find their way home! A couple, I don't mind but there is at least 6 out there now.

They probably want to get in out of the cold, and maybe the hunting is good inside the barns.

A nice meal and a warm place to curl up... what cat could ask for more? :)
