Nope I knew about the handshake, but not Margaret! Never even watched it until in my thirties, sometime after 1975!

Yes definitely deprived, also I didn't even see CASABLANCA until around the same age! My friend was envious, she wished she could be watching it over for the first time.

I first saw Casablanca and The Third Man when I was about 10, and loved film noir ever after. :)

Loved film noir since age ten??? Tink you are PRECOCIOUS!!!

I always hated it because age 2 or 3, my folks would never leave us with a babysitter when they went to the movies and the boring B&W and talk talk talk was so BORING...then rediscovered film noir on YouTube just a couple years ago, now voracious for it. ;)

Another one I saw around that time was Treasure of the Sierra Madre. I was spellbound!

Yes!!! Treasure of the Sierra Madre...I also saw that later in life, unforgettable...I think that was really the one where I became entranced with Bogart. Casablanca could have been a one-time flash in the pan, but then Sierra Madre on top of that? I began searching out Bogart films.

Then long after, in 1997 on one of my long excursions of going around the western USA with camping gear, volunteered at the Peace Pilgrim Center in Hemet for a while, then camped in the Sierra Madre from where I watched the Perseid shower of August 11!

Wow... that meteor shower must have been something, far from any city lights!

Got it Tink...and I remembered Bogart's character, it was Fred C. Dobbs!

But the article said Margaret was very nice in real life.

Although one kid who recognized her on the street got scared and said to his mom, "I thought she melted!"

Yes.  She was also a much loved single mom and had credited roles in dozens of movies and t.v. shows.
