Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge in China

@HegeMarie

Nice choice! I am stuck with the Kintai-kyo and nobody seems to be interested in "L" (there's a famous old bridge though, which I visited, long ago) ... :)<3

SO exquisitely beautiful, artistic, Marianne...

Thank you, Virginia.

The old Chinese and Japanese bridges surrounded by trees and flowers are a great sight.

Truly so, Marianne.

Marianne, I am still receiving notices to this Q, but my little footbridge itself seems to have gotten swallowed up in the programming and disappeared...(sigh) maybe it just wasn't strong enough to hold its own among all the other beautiful colossi, here...8-)

by

Hello, Virginia; you have to go to page three; unfortunately, the notice does not go beyond page one. You have to scroll down, select the next or last page with the newest answers, and then scroll down again, till reaching the comment or answer you are looking for.

Lol, Virginia - you are not the only one learning her way around IT and on-line "challenges" ...

Roman Bridge, Trier  (I think only the piers are original)  :D

image

by

An excellent choice; are you referring to the pillars (I have the same problem: when typing too fast, letters go lost)? Correct, they are original, and it is the oldest standing Bridge in Germany! :)<3

by

Yes, I was referring to the pillars.  In this context, piers and pillars are synonymous.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pier

(see defs. 1 and 3c)

I would have thought the Roman Bridge would have been blown up in WW2, but for some reason it was spared. ("Am Morgen des 2. März 1945 konnten die Amerikaner über die unzerstörte Römerbrücke in Richtung Trier-West gelangen. Die Brücke wurde aus ungeklärten Gründen von den deutschen Truppen nicht gesprengt.") The last time it was deliberately damaged was in 1689 during the War of the Grand Alliance.  :) <3
