Sliced Bread or toaster?

Um... well, you have to slice the bread before you toast it. Even the Romans knew that.  :ermm: :D

My own toaster is the non-stick frying pan. The toast I like best is made on a cast-iron cookstove top, you just sprinkle a little salt on the cast iron before laying your bread to toast! Our kitchen stove was cast-iron until I was about three years old, and I still remember it. 

Even after that, when we went on vacation to Sol Duc Hot Springs in the Olympic Mountains and other wilderness places, the cabins had cast-iron stoves. This is an important time in the history of toast, and she did not mention it in her nest!
