Long ago when studying the work of Carl Jung, I learned that in America there is an archetype virtually unique to us...the American con artist...how are some people able to get by with such as this? Failure after failure, camouflaged by his ability to con people into believing him, dying wealthy at age 94!

Remarkable tale, Tink...tragic for those who lost their lives, not to mention those fleeced of their funds...

There is a common feeling among Europeans that Americans are gullible, on average.

There may be a connection with the American spirit of giving people the benefit of the doubt, and assuming they are honest. There is less of that in Europe, perhaps because of their long history.

Gullibility of Americans -- interesting idea!
