I just checked, and he abdicated that December...it's a nice photo, many people with him clearly at the center.

I must do some research on why he was here..I never knew he had been.

So I found this

https://outoftheblueartifacts.com/king-edward-viii-at-abertillery/

It was Thursday November 19th at the start of the second day of a two day tour.

Llantarnum is the relevant reference......a district of the New Town now but a large village in its own right in 1936

I feel a railway post coming on.

The line that station was on closed to passengers in 1964 and to freight in the eighties. Most of it’s route is now a road .You would never know there had been a station where my doctors is.

The other line also lost it’s stations in 1964 but remained open. But my town went from five stations to none.

A new Cwmbran Station ,on the other line ,opened in 1986.And has frequent services to West Wales,Manchester and North Wales.

One of the stations we lost.
