I read about it a year ago that Charles I of England was executed.

And I just learned that while England executed its king, France executed its King and the Queen, and Russia executed its entire Royal Family.

No I did not know that, and I have been (long ago) interested in Oliver, King Charles II, not to mention the Humpty Dumpty connection.

But maybe I just forgot the gory stuff, because I prefer to remember Oliver Cromwell as the fellow who told the portraiteer to paint him warts-and-all!

(Some kind of immune compromising going on here? Certainly lots of stress in his life...)
