Not surprised as most of the European colonies relied heavily on slave labor to rape as much of Africa as they could. I think the British and Dutch were even worse.
But some good for the Germans in East Africa was the forests they planted and the native Armies. I saw firsthand some of their work in Tanzania and Kenya. So it wasn't all bad.
