I once read that Lincoln studied books on military strategy and tactics when the Civil War broke out.
But of course Lincoln was highly intelligent. Such instruction would be lost on Biden, for example, who graduated near the bottom of his class at a second-rate law school. I don't think it would have done Trump much good either.
I'm new to an old post but.....I've said this often enough elsewhere, but there should be a "finishing school" for anyone who aspires to be an American president.....or a European one for that matter. They should be compelled to sit for a plethora of classes on everything from economics to their militaries....and I mean lengthy study..
Secondly, and just as importantly, each candidate should be compelled to sit for an impartial physician's staff who do a work up on those candidates to see if they are physically and mentally competent to lead from the office they aspire to.
Joseph Biden would have failed in epic fashion had that been a criteria.
No, I don't think that's necessary but they should have a course on how to pick and listen to a good military advisor.

In every country, the chief of state is a supreme commander of army. Every president should know something about military things.
