Geez! Why waste the fuel just for a slot? I've heard about this and shook my head in bewilderment.

Tink, there have been a few articles some time ago and yes, I read one of them...but had forgotten, glad for the reminder.

I see this as one more of the transportation/shipping/supply chain imbroglios showing up the fragility of our international network focused on maximizing profits, rather than reliability, stability, also at the expense of environmental concerns.

I read somewhere else that using these landing time slots are an EU requirement, to "prevent chaos" in crowded European airports. But if a particular flight is canceled, and doesn't use its slot, it seems to me there would be LESS chaos than if it did. :ermm:

Yes, common sense would suggest less chaos...it can be difficult to discern what is really going on...as mentioned above, I have been interested in parallel hang-ups with transcontinental shipping lanes...boats...

Yeah, I heard about it during the pandemic time. But it isn't over yet? :wassat:

Dan, I expected these disruptions to be over by now, that someone would be getting them figured out. But in the parallel concern of transcontinental shipping an supply lines, here in small town America, we actually have more unpredictability in terms of groceries, etc. that you need to buy daily. Often shelves are empty of one or more staples...it's strange!

Yep..all about keeping your landing slots at the airport.
