But here or in France - there are other events, and even in other countries, May 1st (as labour day) has more importance, even if it is not always an official holiday.
Oh, they cited Goethe's Faust, Mann's Magic Mountain, E. Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, J.G. Fraser's The Golden Bough, etc. - but no mention of S. Lagerlöf's Nils Holgersson!
