Summer temperatures usually top out at 95* or so, a couple of those days typically arrive in August. However, Thursday here is predicted to be 105*! If that happens, it will be VERY unusual for the Pacific raincoast.
Here, it has been our National Day, first sunny, hot and very sticky, celebrations, lots of fireworks, in the evening a very noisy thunderstorm, then a break with more fireworks, another thunderstorm for another hour or so (this time the rain could finally bring some relief) and again fireworks - well - a very noisy day - err - another noisy day and night - lol.
Yes, T(h)ink, and I agree that the general public should rather let officially recognised professionals organise and operate in such events.
Lol - as kids, we were constantly reminded that it was dangerous to play with fire, and that matches or firework items were not to be touched by children.
Since a certain time, there seems to be an increasing number of unauthorised "events" and accidents, while laws, warnings, recommendations, rules and restrictions are ignored:
Lol - of course, firecrackers; here, when I was a little child, boys used them, but girls were not supposed to do so ...
On the other hand, we often used candles for various events - and even worse, paper lanterns on August 1st and in other events (outdoors, of course, and under the supervision of parents and teachers).
Lol - oops - not supposed (to play with firecrackers) - well, you know - forbidden things are tempting for kids and adults - and the use of "punk sticks" or similar - well, err, I remember that long matches and lighters were (are), of course, also used.
Lol - actually, we did use matches for games and tinkering, or to lit candles, for cooking, etc., but we were under the supervision of teachers or parents, as long as we were not older kids, knowing well about all the precautions to take and thinking more responsibly.
Here in NY, it's been a mild summer. Only a few days above 90F.
