"(CNN) — The nationwide protests following the death of a black man, George Floyd, at the hands of white police officers has once again shone a spotlight on the long-standing racial divide in the US."

These are the "white" police officers involved:

Tuo Thao must be yellow Asian.J.  Aleksander Kueng must be mixed white and yellow. One has interesting family name: Chauvin - chauvinist.

The original Chauvin may not have existed at all.

I never go to CNN, unless a journalist I have confidence in recommends a specific piece. They are not 100% off-base but it is not worth the effort trying to sort their work out -- too unreliable.

Very wise and commendable, Virginia.

 A lefty shill, Anderson Cooper,

Once said, as he woke from his stupor,

"I dress like Clark Kent

 To pretend that I'm meant

To be honest and forthright and super."

Well...I do kinda like Anderson Cooper. I especially liked the special he did upon the death of his mother.

I'm willing to cut him some slack on his mother, and he's not the worst on CNN, but I've seen Cooper do too many hit pieces to give him much credibility. :ermm:

Hit pieces! Well I suppose I just didn't watch CNN all that long...I was so delighted to have a TV with all the channels when I returned to Washington from Iowa, and kept trying to be delighted with a full-time news/documentary channel...finally turned green at the gills, could not stomach it. Then started watching a program of brides picking their dresses! (I thought of the title -- Say Yes To The Dress!) Oh and Tink, I forgot, did you know there is (or was) a Long Island Medium? I liked her for a while...I think she finally retired, was getting lots of flack.

Also Turner Classic Movies, I liked that very much, saw some classics from childhood memories and some I had never seen before.

ANYthing but the news...I think I went to the Seattle network MSM at 6 PM for a SMALL daily dose...then a year later I found you and Marianne, and learned about independent media.

Oh and wait I forgot, the figure skating, I loved that so much they were having meets all winter long perhaps once a week! I had not had real TV for about 20 years, full cable channels and all.

I was in that little cabin on Olequa Creek for the winter, would go out walking with the dog...old dog Tigger, he loved showing me all his favourite trails down to the creek. He passed away peacefully about a year after I left the tiny cabin. I also had two chickens for friends, Sophie and Charlotte...very fine eggs...CNN was about the only disappointment that winter, I had looked forward to all that news very much.

Well, the hit pieces started in full swing after Trump's nomination, and intensified since he's been president. The irony is that CNN (and other networks) gave him lots of free coverage during the primaries (while Jeb Bush was spending tens of millions of dollars), I think in the hope that Trump would be the Republican candidate that Hillary could most easily defeat.

Their biased coverage since Trump's election has been a measure of their consternation at what happened to their candidate.

And yes, TCM is much better than CNN. :D

I left there in May...I must have missed the hit pieces then, because I gave up on CNN long before that. Tink, with my new cynical perspective here, I think it is possible that BOTH the Democrats and the Republicans would have preferred Hillary Clinton...being truly an instrument of perpetual war...although don't I recall there was some resistance from the GOP at Trump? And anyone who wanted Clinton would have been all for Trump, thinking he would be the easiest for a weak candidate to defeat. Hmmm...not totally sure what was going on there...

I did not like either one of them, but felt a great wash of relief to wake up on that Wednesday and learn the new POTUS was not Hillary Clinton.

However, I am tentatively buying into the conspiracy theory that even the Republicans would like to have Joe Biden as POTUS...he is just such a totally compliant company man...easier to control than The Donald...have you run into that idea?
