Sir Furry, this is exquisite -- I am copying over the liner notes for others to see. I hope Other Tink takes a listen, I think she will like it!

"Welsh music from Ceredwen, about a druid prince who hears sounds calling him from Britain, which is being ravaged by Roman army. He sets out on the long journey, to sacrifices himself on the Black Lake (Y Llyn Du) as a messenger for gods."

Also, you can estimate the age of the song from the dates of the Roman army invading Britain:

"The Roman conquest of Britain was a gradual process, beginning in AD 43 under Emperor Claudius and being largely completed by 87 when the Stanegate was established as the northern frontier."

Virginia is right. The prince was surely accompanied by flights of Celtic faeries. :'(

Y wawr yn torri The dawn is breaking
Mae'r tyndra yn esgyn The tension mounting
Fy nghyned yn aros My fate is waiting
Rwy'n barod i'r siwrne I'm ready for the journey

Henuriad yn galw The elders are calling
O fore tan nôs For morning 'til night
Maen't yn aros am yr aberth Awaiting the sacrifice
A fydd i'w rhoi rhyddhad To give them freedom

Chorus: Chorus:
Yn gynnar yn y bore Early in the morning
Lleisiau yn fy ngalw Voices are a-calling
Yr amser wedi cyrraedd The time has come
Ac mae'n rhiad i'm fynd And I must go
(2x) (2x)

Wedi treilio amryw flwyddyn Many a year have I spent
Paratoi am yr eiliad hon Preparing for this moment
Er mwyn rhoi fy nghorff mewn offrwm I offer my body
