I enjoyed all of them Dan...the first parts, just to get a feeling for the land and the people. I remember that Madras (Chennai) is in the state of Tamil Nadu, the state where you live!

Dan Virginia

Yes, Madras was the name of the state as well as the name of the capital city during the British period. Now the state is renamed Tamil Nadu and the capital city is renamed Chennai.

Is Ranganathan the name of a Hindu god?
Dan TheOtherTink

It may denote a God. From the web:- Hindu name from Sanskrit Ranganathan 'lord of mirth' (from ranga 'mirth' + natha 'lord'), an epithet of the god Krishna.

Aldous Huxley was a great admirer of the symbolism of the Hindu gods. Shiva and the cosmic dance, for example.

And Bharatanatyam originated in Tamil Nadu.

Dan TheOtherTink

Yeah, it does. Also, the above shiva statue.

In the very beginning of the dance clip above, the dancer in front is an American from Texas.

Her name is Sophia Salingaros, born of Belgian and Greek parents.

My night life usually consists of working from Midnight to about 8AM. Company is in England, so I try to work their hours but I love the work!
